SRINAGAR - At least three policemen and a dozen protesters were injured as clashes erupted again in Srinagar and other towns in the Kashmir Valley while authorities imposed curfew to thwart a separatist march Wednesday.
SRINAGAR - Curfew was imposed in Jammu and Kashmir's four districts on Wednesday to foil a march called by moderate faction of Hurrriyat Conference to the office of the United Nations Military Observers' Group for India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) here demanding withdrawal of troops from Kashmir Valley.
SRINAGAR - Stone pelting mobs made a return after a lull to the Kashmir Valley Tuesday that saw five protesters injured in security forces firing in south Kashmir Pulwama district while the three interlocutors visited Shopian where the 2009 alleged rape-murders of two women had sparked widespread outrage.
SRINAGAR - Noted writer Arundhati Roy Tuesday said her speeches supporting the call for azadi were what "millions" in Kashmir say every day and were "fundamentally a call for justice".
SRINAGAR - Police are examining the text of the speech delivered by Booker Prize winner Arundhati Roy at a seminar here to decide whether it 'merits legal action or not'.
