SRINAGAR - The gunfight between security forces and guerrillas, holed up in a house in Malura village on the outskirts of Srinagar city, is continuing since Thursday morning.

Heavy exchange of fire between the holed up militants and the security forces is still going on in Malura village where two to three militants are believed to be hiding inside a house, a senior police officer told IANS here.

Troops of the Rashtriya Rifles and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the state police moved out to surround the house in Malura village, 16 km from city centre Lal Chowk, early Thursday morning after specific information about the presence of guerrillas there.

We are proceeding cautiously to ensure no collateral damage is caused to civilian life and property, the officer said.
