CUTTACK, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The government of Orissa is keen on building an inter city metro link between Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. That is why the state transport department has approached the DMRC to carry out a survey. If it gives appositive report then the cities may be connected. The 150- km stretch will have 20 vital points. If things fall into places, the state government may start construction of the link with technical help from DMRC. The state government wants this metro link to be completed by the year 2030 as it has said.
Satyabrata Sahu the transport secretary of Orissa said that the construction may start from 2020 with help from DMRC. The service will later expand to the areas falling under Cuttack Development Authority and Bhubaneswar Development Authority. It is not going to be an underground metro for keeping the cost within limits. It will run over elevated tracks. The traffic congestion in the area is growing by leaps and bounds and without a speedy inter city transport link things will go out of bound soon. The population in both the cities is also on a rise and this has become a matter of concern.
DMRC is playing a pivotal role in spreading metro network in and outside Delhi. It is starting services in new routes in the capital shortly. In recent times the CM of Andhra Pradesh also saw the services of DMRC and he was quite impressed with it. It has achieved considerable success in reducing the congestion on the roads of Delhi. Before the upcoming Commonwealth Games it wants to revamp its infrastructure and introduce more facilities.
