Westboro Baptist Church: ‘Elizabeth Edwards Spewed Blasphemy’

WASHINGTON (GaeaTimes.com)- In what is being perceived to be a major publicity stunt, a Kansas based church has accused Elizabeth Edwards of ’spewing blasphemy’ while alleging that the estranged wife of ex-presidential candidate John Edwards did not resort to God to cure her from cancer during her six year long battle with the disease. Elizabeth Edwards breathed his last on Tuesday at her North Carolina home and an Edwards family spokesperson has made the announcement that her funeral service would be taking place this Saturday at the Edenton Street United Methodist Church. A day after the announcement was made, the religious group Westboro Baptist Church came up with the statement that it would be protesting against the funeral service slated to be held in Raleigh in the U.S. state of North Carolina.
The scathing remarks against Elizabeth Edwards was released by Westboro Baptist Church in its official online portal where it alleged that the renowned attorney and author was involved in a ’smash-mouthed assault on His deity’ while adding that ‘her pride and arrogance is breath-taking!’ The statement further read that Elizabeth Edwards and her ‘faithless’ husband John Edwards ‘coveted things that were not theirs’ and also presumed that ‘they could control God.’
However, the comments made by the fundamental group has been brushed away by many supporters of the Edwards’ family who emphasized that the protests was nothing more than a desperate attempt to seize the limelight as people are mourning the death of Elizabeth Edwards. Westboro Baptist Church has said that on Saturday it would hold a demonstration to protest against Elizabeth Edwards funeral service from a respectful distance.
