Spirit Airlines Strike

WASHINGTON (GaeaTimes.com)- The negotiations between Spirit Airlines and the pilot union has received an extension of two hours with the talks likely to continue in order to reach an agreement. The pilots of the low cost air carrier have threatened to go for a strike if negotiations fail to satisfy their demands which is over their salary structure. It has been revealed that the pilot union has emphasized that the aim reason which propelled them to consider a potential strike was the pilot pay which they claim is not at the same level with the other low cost carriers.
However, if the Spirit Airlines pilots ultimately take the decision to go for a strike then it might pose a major hurdle to the travel plans of large number of passengers with fights already being canceled as the talks were on between the airline and the pilot union. According to the latest reports that have surfaced, it has come to light that the extension in the time frame of the negotiations was taken into consideration so that additional proposals furnished by the company can be received.
While revealing details about the talks with Spirit Airlines, an Air Line Pilots Association representative Arthur Luby has stated that as the talks are continuing, a lot needs to be done in order to reach a deal o that the strike can be avoided. Meanwhile, Spirit Airlines spokesperson Misty Pinson has stated that the airline is committed to reach an agreement that takes into account the stability and the growth of the company on a long term basis.
