Republic Day Parade To Take Place

DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- While tight security has been arranged at the major cities nationwide, India is all set to exhibit the military might to the world tomorrow during the Republic Day celebrations. Each year the Indian army and air force display the weaponry and major achievements in military technology and 2011 will not be an exception. The highlight of the show would be the new Light Combat Aircraft which is indigenously-developed. Along with the LCA trainer version there will be BrahMos cruise missile on display at the Republic Day parade. The missile built on a joint venture between Russia and India has a 290 km target range and can achieve Mach 3 speed which is equal to thrice the speed of sound.
On Republic Day the Indian Military might will be exhibited and the program will be attended by the President Pratibha Patil, PM Manmohan Singh and a number of Union Ministers. This year the Republic day parade’s chief guest is Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono the President of Indonesia. The Indian Air Force will deploy the Sukhois, MiG-29 as well as Jaguar aircrafts at the fly past tomorrow. The army will also bring in the ‘Dhruv’ indigenous Advanced LightHelicopters as it has been reported. The ceremony will be aired live on the national networks.
The Republic Day parade will commence with the awarding of the coveted Ashok Chakra award to late Major Laishram Jyotin Singh, killed in Kabul suicide bomber attack. He will also be given the national salute. During the parade the transport system in the capital and the Delhi Airport will be affected to an extent.
