World leaders seek unanimity on nuclear weapons’ security and safety

WASHINGTON DC - With a hope of achieving unanimity over the issue of the threat posed by nuclear weapons, the world leaders of over 40 countries are meeting at the Nuclear Security Summit here today.

The meet also happens to be the largest gathering of Heads of State and other leaders over past 55 years.esides the Heads of State, the representatives of the European Union, the United Nations, and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) are also participating in the two-day Summit to find out ways to keep the nuclear materials away from the reach of terrorists.oreover, the leaders would also discuss the threat of the terrorist outfits gaining access to the nuclear weapons in near future.

To make the world more secure, the leaders are likely to formulate a plan to jointly combat the terrorists’ threat.eanwhile, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, on the sidelines of the summit, is also holding bilateral talks with Morocco, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, and French President Nicolas Sarkozy today.

Since India has been facing the terrorist attacks for a very long time, it is likely to play an important role in sharing its experiences in the fight against terrorism.
