China says opposed to Obama meeting Dalai Lama
BEIJING — China has increased the pressure on the United States by saying for the second successive day that it is opposed to any meeting between President Barack Obama and the Dalai Lama, the exiled Tibetan leader.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu said Wednesday that “China resolutely opposes the visit by the Dalai Lama to the United States, and resolutely opposes the U.S. leader having contact with the Dalai Lama in any name or any form.”
The United States has already brushed aside previous warnings from China, and says Obama will meet the Dalai Lama.
