Indian Railways Planning More Complexes

ALLAHABAD, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- Indian railways is keen on making passenger amenities improved at the key rail stations in the country. The Allahabad junction is soon going to get a spanking new multi functional complex which will prove to be a boon for the passengers. The construction of the complex has been given to Indian Railways Construction Company as it has been reported. It is expected that by the end of this year the complex will be ready for use. The cost is estimated to be near INR 4 crore. It will have ATMs, restaurants, food stalls, showrooms and bookstalls etc. this will offer the passengers various facilities under one roof.

In the 2009-10 budget of the Indian Railways the idea of multi functional complexes at major stations was introduced. This was not only for providing facilities for the passengers but also meant for upgrading the amenities at stations that are frequented by tourists coming from abroad. The cities that have religious hotspots are visited by a huge number of tourists each year and the railways ministry wants to set up complexes at those stations in near future. The railways wants to set up such complexes at major stations in PPP model. The railway minister is also upbeat about these ventures.

The multifunctional complexes are thought to be a winning proposition for the Indian Railways. By providing the facilities it will be able to attract more passengers and hike revenue. A lot of passengers often fret about lack of facilities at major railway junctions. Their needs and worries will be addressed. The complexes will take some years to be completed.
