BANGALORE, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The much awaited Aero India 2011 show has started near Bangalore an annual event which witnesses the participation of top aircraft manufacturing majors of the world. This year the event has also attracted the global aviation majors like Boeing and others but the event has also triggered an accommodation crisis in Bangalore. As the Aero India 2011 show is on the top end elite hotels are chock a block with foreign delegates and VIPs. A lot of business travelers are being forced to postpone their trips to the city. The regular rate for a days stay at the posh hotels of Bangalore hovers around INR 8000-9000 but this week the rate has jumped to an incredible INR 25000 a day. Only Royal Orchid which owns 5 hotels in the city still has a few rooms vacant.
The effect of the Aero India 2011 is evident on the mid range hotels of Bangalore as well. The 3 star hotels in the city have also been booked in advance. The annual show attracts a huge number of aviation industry giants and delegates. This year 330 companies have taken part in the 5 day long event. Some businessmen from abroad who are on a tight budget have opted for cheaper accommodation in the outskirts of the city. The wise ones have booked rooms in nearby resorts and they prefer going to the venue daily from those places. It saves them a lot of money.
The hotel industry veterans however think this is nothing unusual. Even in other places the top end hotels hike rates to a great extent during mega events like the Aero India 2011.
