Its main target base are the travelers who look for cheap Florida vacations. Vision Airlines would fly to 20 U.S. destinations, including Tampa Bay through St. Petersburg-Clearwater International by April 1. The airline would formally announce its plans at an event in Destin this afternoon, in the presence of Florida Governor Rick Scott.
Every year, over 4.5 million visitors from the Emerald Coast visit Destin. Vision Airlines is supposed to offer direct flights to Destin from a number of airports, including Miami and Atlanta. Other vacation destinations include Savannah, Georgia; Biloxi, Mississippi; Ashville, North Carolina; as well as Tampa, Florida. David Meers, the Chief Operating Officer of Vision Airlines told a leading newspaper that the market they are planning to target are usually ignored by the large carriers. He also said that people travel to those places by road instead of availing a flight, since flight services did not connect to those places. Vision Airlines have gained popularity among vacationing families for operating charter flights and air tours of the Grand Canyon and the Hoover Dam. The company reported that the fares will begin at $79 for a one way ticket. However, tickets booked within January 18-23, would get an amazing discount. The price of the tickets would be $49.
Panama City resident Wesley Smith said that at times all the options are not available for the different locations where people wish to get to. She also said that an additional airlines like Vision Airlines, with additional cities would be just great. Dan Rowe, Executive Director of the Panama City Beach Tourist Development Council said that anytime, an airline company offers low cost flights to Northwest Florida, it benefits the entire region.
