LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- Wright County Egg, a Galt, Iowa egg producing company is recalling 288 million eggs after the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) came up with reports that linked the tainted eggs of the company with the outbreak of salmonella poisoning in California and some other states. The Company declared the egg recall on August 13 and maintained reportedly that it covers the eggs that were packed by the company between May 16 and Aug 13. The recalled egg cartons that range from six to eighteen eggs bear the plant numbers P-1026, P-1413, P-1946. The company has asked people to return such eggs and get the refund. The eggs should not be consumed in any form.
The eggs were packaged under the names of Mountain Dairy, Albertson, Lucerne, Ralph’s, Sunshine, Hillandale, Boomsma’s, Trafficanda, Shoreland, Farm Fresh, Lund, Dutch Farms and Kemp. The packaged eggs were distributed all over America. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said that the eggs from the Wright County Egg have been linked with illnesses not only in California but also in Colorado and Minnesota. While reports of illnesses caused by salmonella were on a rise from May it reached an alarming rate in June and July. While in May around 50 people per week visited physicians with illnesses caused by salmonella, the number rose to 200 per week in June.
Dr. Jonathan Fielding, the County health officer said on Tuesday that people affected by the salmonella from the egg will develop fever, diarrhea and cramps. The illness in general lasts for four to seven days. Although the eggs have affected a large population, babies and elderly people with weak immune system were the worst affected.
