Chile, Switzerland 0-0 after 15 minutes

PORT ELIZABETH, South Africa — Chile and Switzerland were tied 0-0 after the first 15 minutes of Monday’s Group H match at the World Cup.

Chile had the best chances of the opening exchanges, with forward Alexis Sanchez shooting over the net in the fifth minute. In the 10th minute, Arturo Vidal’s shot was parried by Swiss goalkeeper Diego Benaglio to Carlos Carmona, whose shot also was saved.

Chile striker Humberto Suazo, who missed the first match against Honduras with a left thigh injury, was cautioned in the second minute for a high tackle.

Both teams won their first matches.

Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, which has a capacity of around 48,000, was around two-thirds full at kickoff.
