Nevada probes bankrupt butcher’s rotting meat

SPARKS, Nev. — Cleanup crews in protective suits and masks have removed hundreds of pounds of rotting meat from a maggot-filled trailer in Nevada after it was abandoned in a bankruptcy dispute with a closed butcher shop.

Washoe County health officials say they still have not determined who is to blame for the mess and stench that started brewing in the hot sun in Sparks after the power was shut off to the cooling unit a few weeks ago.

One of the owners of the Butcher Boy issued an apology earlier this week on his website and a video on YouTube. Clint Jolly said they haven’t had access to the trailer for more than five months because the locks were changed by the bankruptcy trustee.
