Honda says Chinese labor dispute has been settled

DETROIT — Honda Motor Co. says a labor dispute that caused a two-week strike at a Chinese parts factory has been resolved.

Honda spokesman David Iida (Eee’-duh) says that all the workers have agreed to a new offer. He says the company does not expect any further work disruptions.

The strike over pay at an engine and transmission plant halted production at four assembly plants in China. Earlier in the week employees agreed to return to work on Friday, but some had threatened to walk out again to press for more money.

The strike highlighted tensions between workers and foreign companies that look to China as a source of cheap labor and a fast-growing market.
