Imax gets deal for 2 more theaters in China
NEW YORK — Imax Corp. said Thursday it struck a deal to install two more of its jump screens with Chinese movie theater operator Stellar Investment Co.
The deal is a part of a broad effort by Imax to expand in China. The company has 26 locations there and plans to have more than 50 operating by 2012.
Imax said it will install one screen in Shanghai and another in Beijing as a part of the deal with Stellar Investment, which operates under the brand Stellar Cinemas. Financial details were not disclosed.
Imax shares were up 27 cents to $16.92 in afternoon trading.
