BEIJING — A senior U.S. official says the United States and China are still at odds about how to deal with North Korea over the sinking of a South Korean warship and the specifics of U.N. sanctions to slap on Iran over its suspect nuclear program.

On the eve of high-level talks between the two countries, the official said Sunday that China is not yet convinced that North Korea was responsible for the sinking of the South Korean vessel despite. An international report blames the north for the incident.

The official also says the two sides have not yet agreed on the details of penalties to impose on Iran.
