LOS ANGELES — A Mega Millions ticket sold in California is worth $266 million.

California Lottery officials say the ticket matched all six numbers drawn in the multistate game Tuesday.

Twenty-eight tickets had five numbers but didn’t have the Mega number.

Of those, seven were sold in California, three each were sold in New Jersey and Virginia, and two each were sold in Michigan, Missouri, New York and Ohio. One ticket each was sold in Arizona, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and Texas.

Lottery officials say the seven tickets sold in California are each worth $179,428, while the other 21 are each worth $250,000. California law requires major payoffs of lottery games to be paid on a pari-mutuel basis.

The numbers drawn Tuesday night were 9, 21, 31, 36, 43, and the Mega number was 8.
