Obama orders flags at half-staff to honor Height

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama has ordered the U.S. flags to be flown at half-staff at the White House and at all public buildings and military installations on Thursday in honor of civil rights legend Dorothy Height.

Funeral services for Height, who died last week at age 98, will be held Thursday at Washington National Cathedral.

Height was one of the most prominent women in the civil rights movement. She also led the National Council of Negro Women for 40 years.
