NEW YORK — Former President Bill Clinton is making his second trip to earthquake-ravaged Haiti.

Clinton will depart for the island nation on Friday. He’ll meet with its leaders, visit a prominent AIDS clinic in Port-au-Prince and deliver supplies.

Clinton said in a statement Thursday that the “long road to recovery has just begun.”

He said wants to “ensure assistance continues to be effective, coordinated, and sustained in the weeks and months to come.”

Funds for Haiti’s long-term recovery are being raised through the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund. President Barack Obama tapped Clinton and President George W. Bush to lead private sector fundraising efforts.

The Clinton Foundation Haiti Earthquake Fund also is raising money.
