Chad Hurley Resigns

SAN FRANCISCO (GaeaTimes.com)- One of the three original founders of YouTube, Chad Hurley is stepping down as the CEO of the popular video sharing website, the San Bruno, Calif., company announced the news yesterday. Chad Hurley spoke about his stepping down on Thursday in a press conference where he expressed his wish to be the advisor of YouTube. Chad Hurley launched YouTube in February 2005 with Steve Chen and Jawed Karim and now it seems that the former CEO wants to explore his other responsibilities.

Chad Hurley released a statement yesterday where he mentioned that for the past two years he has taken the role of an adviser more than the CEO of a company. He stated that Salar Kamangar, on the other hand has looked after the day to day operation of the company and hence he feels that he should step down form his post. However, the former CEO said that he would continue to serve as the ‘advisor” of the company and he is excited to witness the next new phase of YouTube’s growth. The company released a statement where it was stated that vice president Salar Kamangar would be the next CEO of the company.

Chad Hurley his interview on technology conference in Ireland said that stepping down from the company had given him an opportunity to work in new projects. He also said that YouTube is lucky to get Salar Kamangar as he is one of the founders of AdWords. The former CEO said that for him Salar Kamangar was someone who will be able to carry on the place of CEO with sincerity and dedication.
