Solid proof of foreign elements’ involvement in Balochistan turmoil: Gilani

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Prime Minster Yousaf Raza Gilani has said there was solid evidence that foreign elements and powers were involved in aggravating the situation in Balochistan.
Speaking in the National Assembly on the Balochistan situation, Gilani said that targeted killings of settlers in Balochistan could not be overlooked, as it had further aggravated the law and order situation in the province.
He said solid proof had been found that organisations like Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) were involved in target killings, the Daily Times reported.
The prime minister said the lack of education among the Baloch people had strengthened the anti-social elements there, and that limited economic and developmental activities and less employment opportunities created a sense of deprivation among youths of the province.
Delivering policy statement on the law and order situation in Balochistan, Gilani said: “We have started the process (of compensation for Baloch people) and coming generations will complete it.”
Acknowledging that a sense of deprivation prevailed in Balochistan, Gilani said the government had presented the Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan package to address these concerns.
“I feel proud to mention that the Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan package is bringing prosperity to our Baloch brothers and is a guarantee for the welfare of future generations,” he said.
The issue of missing persons had been lingering for long, Gilani said, adding that the government had taken concrete steps, including the establishment of a judicial commission, to sort out the issue on humanitarian grounds. (ANI)
