LONDON - Downing Street cat Larry, who is the Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office, is said to have tried to gatecrash a Kevin Spacey photocall.

The newly appointed moggy almost stole the limelight from UK Prime Minister David Cameron, 44, and actor Kevin Spacey, 51, before No10 officials moved him away from the cameras.

Cameron presented Spacey, the artistic director of the Old Vic theatre, with a Big Society Award for a volunteer scheme, which supports young people who have an ambition to work in the arts.

He helped establish the Old Vic Tunnels scheme, which was billed as a “performance space offering opportunities for young people to gain experience in production and be part of an innovative and diverse arts venue”.

The Prime Minister congratulated Spacey for his work as the pair gathered before the media outside the No10 black door.

“This is an incredibly exciting project, bringing together young people from diverse backgrounds and offering them the chance to be part of such a creative and engaging venture at the heart of their community,” the Telegraph quoted the Prime Minister as saying.

“It’s a really inspiring example of the Big Society in action, giving young people responsibility, the opportunity to develop skills and confidence and to make a difference to their area at the same time.

“Congratulations to everyone behind the scheme and all the volunteers who have helped to make The Old Vic Tunnels such a success,” he added. (ANI)
