Obama says he’s calling former President Carter
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — President Barack Obama says he plans to call former President Jimmy Carter to see how he is after Carter was hospitalized with an upset stomach.
During a stop Tuesday at a restaurant in Albuquerque, Obama told reporters he planned to call Carter as soon as he gets to Air Force One for his trip to Wisconsin later in the day.
The Carter Center said the 85-year-old former president fell ill on a flight from Atlanta to Cleveland to promote his recent book and was taken to a Cleveland hospital. Although Carter’s grandson, Georgia state Sen. Jason Carter, initially said on his Facebook page that his 85-year-old grandfather was out of the hospital, later he said he had the wrong information. A hospital spokeswoman said Carter was still there.
