Obama grateful for Iran’s release of US hiker

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama says he’s very pleased that the Iranian government released one of the U.S. hikers who have been detained for more than a year.

Obama says all Americans join with Sarah Shourd’s family in celebrating her return home. The president says he’s grateful to all those who have worked to secure her release.

Obama says he remains hopeful that Iran will also release the two other hikers who had been detained with Shourd.
