Obama: Wis. plant symbolizes clean-energy future

MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. — President Barack Obama says a Milwaukee-area battery plant represents the country’s future in renewable energy.

Obama visited ZBB Energy Corp. in Menomonee Falls on Monday morning. The company makes batteries and fuel cells that get used in renewable-energy products.

He told workers he’s glad to see clean-energy manufacturing jobs here in the U.S. instead of overseas. He says he wants cars of the future to have engines and batteries all stamped, “Made in the United States.”

Obama spoke for about 15 minutes before a supportive crowd of about 50 ZBB workers and their families.

He struck an optimistic tone, saying the economic is growing again. He says when the chips are down, it’s a mistake to bet against American industry.
