Psychologists face Guantanamo abuse claim

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Human rights groups have filed complaints against two psychologists accused of helping perpetrate abuse of detainees at Guantanamo Bay.

The complaints filed Wednesday name Dr. John Leso, who led a behavioral science consultation team at Guantanamo in 2002 and 2003, and a successor, retired Army Col. Larry James.

The San Francisco-based Center for Justice & Accountability filed a complaint against Leso with the New York Office of the Professions, alleging professional misconduct.

Harvard’s International Human Rights Clinic filed a complaint against James with the Ohio state board of psychology.

James declined to comment Wednesday. The complaint against Leso says he is stationed at Fort Rucker, Ala., where he could not be immediately reached.
