Obama, Bloomberg talk about NYC car bomb

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama has talked to New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg about the car bomb discovered in Times Square.

Obama is expected to discuss the Saturday night Times Square incident when he meets with reporters Sunday afternoon during a visit to southern Louisiana.

Obama spoke with Bloomberg while traveling to Venice, La., for a firsthand briefing on the massive oil spill spreading over the Gulf of Mexico.

Both Obama and Bloomberg were attending the White House correspondents dinner Saturday night in Washington when the car bomb was discovered. Bloomberg left the dinner early.

Authorities in New York say there’s no evidence of a link to the Taliban in spite of claims of responsibility on websites.
