Taliban attack checkpost, kill 6 Pakistan soldiers

ISLAMABAD — The Pakistan army says 6 soldiers and 25 militants have been killed in fighting triggered by an insurgent attack on a checkpoint close to the Afghan border.

The fighting Wednesday took place in the Khyber district near the main northwestern city of Peshawar.

The military statement said soldiers repulsed the attack and that several suicide car bombs were destroyed.
