SRINAGAR - Condemning the use of bullets against stone-pelting mobs that have led to deaths of over 60 Kashmiri civilians in two months, Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) general secretary Prakash Karat Monday alleged that the central government was "totally clueless" about the Kashmir issue.
SRINAGAR - One more person injured in firing by security forces in Kashmir Valley succumbed to his injuries Monday, when restrictions and curfew continued in several towns, including this summer capital that again saw deserted streets and most businesses and educational establishments shut.
SRINAGAR - Police and paramilitary forces deployed in the Kashmir Valley are set to change from lethal to non-lethal weapons like Taser guns, pellets and pepper balls after 62 civilians lost their lives in the ongoing unrest. But their efficacy is still in question.
SRINAGAR - Curfew continued in summer capital Srinagar, south Kashmir Bijbehara and north Kashmir Trehgam towns Sunday amid another shutdown called by separatists in the valley. Authorities are likely to lift restrictions from many places.
KOLKATA - Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad Saturday said the suggestions given by various parties were being implemented in Kashmir and hoped the disturbances in the troubled state would soon blow over.
