International Award in memory of Rabindranath Tagore

NEW DELHI - Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee today announced that an international award with a prize money of Rs. One crore will be instituted for promoting values of Universal Brotherhood in the memory of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore.
Presenting the Union Budget 2011-12 in the Lok Sabha, Mukherjee said that national celebrations of 150th Birth Anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore would commence from May 7 in New Delhi and important events would be held in several countries in Europe, America and Asia.
A series of events are also proposed to be organized under the aegis of joint India-Bangladesh Celebrations Committee, the Minister informed. (ANI)
