Omar postpones ministerial reshuffle

JAMMU - Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has deferred a proposed ministerial reshuffle which he was keen on before the start of the asembly’s budget session Monday, sources said.

According to sources, the biggest hurdle Omar faced in carrying out a reshuffle was that there were way more aspirants for cabinet berths than vacancies.

There are three vacancies in the state’s council of ministers.

It was becoming difficult for the chief minister to keep everyone happy, sources said, and annoying many aspirants could have resulted in political problems during the budget session.

Omar may effect the reshuffle after the session is over in April.

There has been talk of a reshuffle since June last year when the unrest had erupted in the Valley, but because of the volatile situation, he was forced to put the rejig on hold, sources said.
