Militants kill truck driver in Kashmir

SRINAGAR - Separatist guerrillas shot dead a truck driver in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district Sunday evening, police said.

Mohammad Ayoub Wani was shot when he was coming out of a mosque after evening prayers in Kakapura town of the district, some 28 km from here.

“Wani was fired at from a close range by the militants and he succumbed to his injuries immediately after the assailants escaped,” a police officer said here.

The area has been surrounded for searches. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the shooting, the police officer added.
