NEW DELHI - B.L. Bagra, Director (Finance) in the National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), has been given additional charge of the Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of the company.
It comes after the Union Mines Ministry suspended former NALCO CMD Abhay Kumar Srivastava, who is in Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) custody till March 3 in a bribery case.
“Abhay Kumar Srivastava, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) has been put under suspension with immediate effect following investigation/inquiry in a case (CBI regular Case 01/2011 of AC1 Branch) of criminal offence,” Mines Ministry had said in a statement.
The CBI had arrested Srivastava on Friday for allegedly demanding and accepting bribes in the form of gold bricks.
Srivastava, along with wife, Chandni Srivastava, and two accomplices, Bhushan Lal Bajaj and Anita Bajaj were produced at the Patiala House Court on Saturday.
Srivastava and his wife were arrested for accepting an illegal gratification of three gold bricks, each weighing a kilogram, of 24 carat gold.
His wife was accepting the bribe from Anita Bajaj. The two accomplices were reportedly brokering a deal between Srivastava and a Madhya Pradesh-based company. (ANI)
