NEW DELHI - The capital savoured a slice of the culture and tradition of the northeast at the ‘Home of the Clouds’ festival organised by the Meghalaya government at Dilli Haat in Pitampura area of north Delhi Saturday.
The two-day festival, organised by Meghalaya’s department of arts and culture, was inaugurated by the state’s Deputy Chief Minister B.M. Lanong.
The festival will showcase the culture and cuisine of the beautiful northeastern state, apart from an exhibition-cum-sale of indigenous items like bamboo knick-knacks, handicrafts and other products.
It’s amazing to see my culture here in Delhi. Shillong is also known for beauty and nature, said Manhakini Slong, a student of Delhi University who hails from Shillong.
I am looking forward to more such events that highlight the authentic tradition and cuisine, added Slong.
What is expected to be a crowd puller is the cultural evening for Feb 26 featuring traditional dances and a live performance by the Pynter Orchestra, Hedingson Rynthathiang Elvis of Meghalaya, Lou Majaw and other rock bands.
