German consulate officer detained for injuring four Pak policemen released

KARACHI - German Consulate employee Martin, who had slammed his vehicle into a parked police van at a traffic signal in Karachi in the wee hours of Saturday, has been released five hours after his arrest.
Earlier, four police personnel were injured when their mobile van standing at a signal was hit by the German consulate’s vehicle in Defence area of the city, Samaa TV reported.
The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital. Darakhshan police soon arrived on the spot and began investigations into the incident after nabbing Martin for violating the law.
However, the police freed Martin after five hours with the consent of the injured persons.
According to reports, the police mobile involved in this accident was on protocol duty for a VIP when it collided with the consulate’s car bearing license plate CC-2213.
Martin told the media persons that he is a commercial officer in the German Consulate, Dunya News reported.
Responding to a question, Martin said he was alone in the car during this accident, and that he is not responsible for this collision. (ANI)
