LONDON - A brewery in Cambridgeshire has created a new beer to celebrate Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Royal wedding.

Called ‘Windsor Knot’, the beer is a concoction of honey and malt from the Sandringham Estate and has been created by Elgood and Son Ltd.

The beer will be available to buy in March in bottles, while the draught version will be sold throughout Elgood’s pubs from April.

The 200-year-old family business based in Wisbech has designed a label for the beer, which combines the traditional Union Jack flag colours of red, white and blue with the couple’s initials.

Head brewer Alan Pateman used malt from barley grown at the Queen’s Norfolk retreat, Sandringham so it would be a beer with true Royal connections, reports the Daily Mail.

The honey is a reference to the young couple’s honeymoon, Pateman said.

“It’s a lovely pale golden beer with a lovely aroma of hop and also some sweetness from the honey we’ve used,” he said.

Pateman said he wants William and Kate to sample the beer and plans to send some to Clarence House for the couple to taste. (ANI)
