LONDON - The Brit-Indian millionaire charged with masterminding his wife’s murder during their honeymoon in Cape Town last year has been admitted in a hospital in London after he took an overdose of tablets, indicating a possible suicide attempt.

Shrien Dewani, the 31-year-old care home boss, has reportedly lost 12 kilos of weight in recent weeks.

The Telegraph quoted Dewani’s spokesman, Max Clifford, as saying that the Indian-origin business tycoon has become “very fragile” because of the stress he has been undergoing right after the death of his wife in South Africa.

“He was taken to hospital on Sunday afternoon, according to his family, suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder which he has been suffering from. It has been getting worse and causing particular concern to his family and his doctors,” Clifford said.

“I can’t confirm whether there was a suicide bid. He is in a very bad place at the moment, which is not surprising given the tragic case of his wife and all the accusations since. He has lost as much as 12 kilos in recent weeks, he is very, very fragile, both physically and psychologically.” he added.

Dewani’s wife, Anni, was shot dead when a taxi the couple were travelling in was hijacked in the Gugulethu township on the outskirts of Cape Town on November 13 last year.

Her dead body was found in the back seat of the hijacked car. Recently, it was reportedly that the abductors had sexually assaulted her before gunning her down.

Although the South African police has been insisting that Dewani had planned Anni’s murder, the “stressed” husband has denied all allegations against him. He is currently in London fighting his extradition case to South Africa. (ANI)
