Stability, development in South Asia important for global interests: Pak

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan has said that it has reached out to the Indian and Afghanistan governments to promote stability and development in the region.
It came after US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that Pakistan was at risk of major instability, which threatened the US-led war effort in Afghanistan, and it should implement reforms and stop fomenting anti-American sentiment.
“It is Pakistan’s considered view that stability, peace and development in the South Asian region is not only important for Pakistan, but has global ramifications,” the Daily Times quoted a Foreign Office spokesperson, as saying.
“It is imperative that the international community support this endeavour. We applaud Secretary Clinton’s call to respect the principles of non-interference and non-intervention. The sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of Afghanistan must also be fully respected,” the spokesperson added.
The spokesperson also said that Pakistan values its relations with the US. (ANI)
