‘Sexy’ sumos pose in new advert for Japanese car manufacturer

LONDON - A Japanese car manufacturer has featured a number of “sexy” sumos in its car advert in a bid to beat competitors.
Car maker Subaru took a dig at Lexus and Nissan, with the manufacturer’s Canadian arm advertising its new Forester model using the wrestlers in a series of seductive poses.
It is seen as an attack on their competitors, who both released new adverts this week containing bikini-wearing models to coincide with the release of American magazine Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit edition.
The one minute advert, with a soundtrack by musician Peaches, begins with a garage door opening to reveal a wrestler standing with a foot against the Subaru.
It then takes the viewer through a series of situations, including two wrestlers eating ice cream, at the car wash, nibbling on strawberries and interrupting a kissing couple.
It then pans to a showroom, with a series of wrestlers lying across the cars, before the tagline says: “Sexy comes standard”.
It is not the first time the “sexy” sumos have appeared but the new advert has been met with praise by industry observers.
“Unlike the bikini-wearing models in other ads, you’re not left wondering where the car is,” the Daily Mail quoted Website Motor Authority as saying.
“If anything, your eyes seek out the Forester, if only for aesthetic relief,” it stated. (ANI)
