RAIPUR - Social activist Swami Agnivesh has made an appeal to the Maoist not to cause any bodily harm to R Vineel Krishna, the abducted District Collector of Odisha’s Malkangiri District.

He has appealed the rebels to keep their deadline of 48 hours flexible.

“I am yet to get more details about the incident. Orissa’s officials have contacted me and I am expecting a call from Director General of Police Manmohan Praharaj. Maoists always say that they treat their hostages like Prisoners of War (POW) so I appeal to them not to cause any bodily harm to him”, Swami Agnivesh told The Indian Express.

Krishna, who was on his way back after attending a health camp in Chitrakonda, has been missing since last evening.

The Maoists have sent a note through a junior engineer accompanying Krishna demanding immediate halt to Operation Green Hunt and release of jailed Maoists. (ANI)
