LONDON - Despite being sexually assaulted in Egypt, former GMTV reporter Lara Logan - now at CBS News - has vowed to return to work ‘within weeks’.

According to TMZ.com, the 39-year-old working mother has told friends what happened to her in Egypt ‘will not destroy her’, reports the Daily Mail.

A source told the website that the details of her assault were horrible, but she was determined to go back to work within weeks.

According to the source, Logan is ‘unbelievably strong’ and has been candidly discussing what happened.

“She is going to be OK,” added a friend.

Meanwhile, Logan, who was hospitalised after the ’sustained and brutal’ assault on February 11 as she reported from Cairo on the resignation of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, was released from hospital on Wednesday.

It has also emerged that she spoke of her safety fears just a day before she was sexually assaulted in Egypt.

The South-African born war correspondent was tipped at one time to be a presenter on GMTV before leaving to work for CBS in 2002.

She has regularly filed reports from Afghanistan and Iraq for CBS over the last decade. (ANI)
