LONDON - If money was a way of measuring love, it’s safe to say that Britons would win the game amongst all Europeans.

The last few weeks have seen sales of teddies, cards and heart-shaped items on eBay soar to two a minute. And an item of jewellery is snapped up on the site every second.

A survey revealed that 8 percent of all jewellery sold in the UK is bought by Cheshire residents.

As Britain prepares for the wedding of Prince William, 28, and Kate Middleton, 29, engagement ring sales are up 75 percent on last year with sapphire bands like Kate’s rocketing by 40 percent.

Brits are also buying 20 times more health and beauty products than those across the Channel.

“The UK is way ahead when it comes to buying gifts, both lavish and thoughtful, around Valentine’s Day,” the Daily Star quoted Ebay’s Ruth Szyszkowski as saying. (ANI)
