72 year-old man becomes one of UK’s oldest dads

LONDON - A 72-year-old man has become one of the oldest dads in UK after his wife, almost 30 years younger to him, gave birth to a baby girl.

Ian McMean has become a proud father of baby Kate after his wife Claire gave birth at Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.

Kate is McMean’s fourth child - with two brothers, Christian and Andrew, aged 47 and 42, from his first marriage and seven-year-old Kit with Claire.

“It’s a bit like beauty and the beast at the moment. I am holding Kate, and she is so tiny,” the Daily Mail quoted McMean senior as saying.

“Claire’s labour lasted all of 40 minutes, it was somewhat of a rush. I went to park the car at the hospital and when I returned the baby had arrived,” McMean added.

Coming in at 6lbs 10ozs, the couple said they were over the moon to have added a baby girl to their family. (ANI)
