ISLAMABAD - Pakistan is likely to appoint Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir as its next High Commissioner to India after incumbent envoy Shahid Malik’s term ends in June.

Pakistan Foreign Office sources said the government considered the possibilities of posting Bashir as Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, the country’s Ambassador to the US or the High Commissioner to India, The Nation reported.

A final decision in this regard is yet to be taken by the government, they added.

Before being appointed Foreign Secretary, Bashir was the Pakistan Ambassador to China and Mongolia from 2005 to 2008. (ANI)
