QAZIGUND - The shutdown of the 300-km Jammu-Srinagar highway continued for the second consecutive day due to heavy snowfall.

Around two feet of snow on the highway has stopped traffic throughout the Jawahar tunnel and left passengers stranded.

Over 400 trucks laden with essential commodities have been halted in Jammu.

“For past three days we are stuck here. Even food is not available to us. Government is also not helping us. They should provide us some facilities as roads remain closed every year. Therefore the government should do something for us,” said Ajmal, a truck driver.

The Valley is covered with a wide blanket of snow, which has also led to power disruptions at many places. (ANI)
