BIJNOR - Several people have been rendered homeless after heavy rains led to a flood like situation in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor district.

Locals said that the floodwater have not only ruined their houses, but has also damaged their crops.

They also complained that the state government has not taken any steps to felicitate their relocation.

“DM (District Magistrate) came here twice and he promised that we would be shifted to some other place where houses would be built for us. We again went to the DM, but he did not meet us,” said Balbir Singh, a flood victim.

“We then met the ADM (Additional District Magistrate), but he did not listen to any of our problems. He asked us to meet the SDM (Sub Divisional Magistrate) for our problems but nothing has happened till now,” he added.

However, the Sub Divisional Magistrate of Bijnor district, S.B. Tiwari, said that the process of relocation is going on.

“The villagers are well off. If they want they can easily buy lands and work but this is the priority of the government to relocate them. So we are looking into the matter and would shift them as soon as possible,” Tiwari said. (ANI)
