RAWALPINDI - The Pakistan Government has ordered the transfer of five police officers who it felt were hampering investigations into the assassination of former Punjab Governor Salman Taseer.
According to the Daily Times, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Hamid Mukhtar Gondal transferred the head of the CPO office, Abid Shah, to the Establishment Branch for creating hurdles in the investigation of Malik Mumtaz Qadri, Taseer’s killer.
Four other officials of the CPO office have been transferred to the Establishment Branch.
Sources in the CPO office told Daily Times that the officials were transferred as it was believed that they were sympathisers of Qadri and were using their influence to obstruct the investigation of the late governor’s killer. (ANI)
