Jharkhand Police arrest five Maoists in Simdega

SIMDEGA - Jharkhand Police arrested five Maoists, including a former area commander, in Simdega District on Monday.
“Today, Simdega Police captured a former Maoist area commander. For the past three to four years, he was involved with the CPI-Maoists in the Thethainagar area. The Maoist commander has been identified as Turiya Arao. Along with him, four other Maoists have been also arrested,” said Simdega Superintendent of Police Anoop Birthare.
The police also seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the Maoists.
“A huge cache of arms and ammunitions has been recovered from them. One 9 mm pistol, two country-made pistols, two country-made rifles, .315 bullets, 9 mm bullets, 20 pieces of gelatin and 10 electronic detonators have also been seized from them,” added Anoop Birthare.
According to reports, the arrested Maoist commander Turiya Arao was heading the Jan Guerilla Army group prior to his arrest. (ANI)
