KABUL - External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna on Sunday voiced his concern over security, and said India is confident that the Afghanistan Government will provide security to the Indian diplomatic missions so that they can function smoothly.

“We are confident that Afghanistan government would be able to provide the needed security so that our missions and then our workers who are here as part of our development assistance agenda which is at work in Afghanistan can move smoothly so that it will be beneficial and helpful,” Krishna told reporters at a joint press conference along with his Afghan counterpart Zalmay Rasool after their.

“The threat to our mission unfortunately is real with the best of efforts by the government of Afghanistan. The continuing impact of threat is a cause of great concern not only in Afghanistan but back home in India also,” he added.

Krishna, who is presently on a two-day visit to Afghanistan, also held extensive talks with his Afghan counterpart on issues like terrorism in the region, security of Indians and various economic projects. (ANI)
